Analysis of the number of bedrooms in dwellings in Cassowary Coast (R) in 2021 compared to Cairns (R) shows that there was a higher proportion of dwellings with 2 bedrooms or less, and a lower proportion of dwellings with 4 or more bedrooms.
Overall, 29.1% of households were in dwellings with 2 bedrooms or less, and 20.4% of 4 or more bedroom dwellings, compared with 26.3% and 33.0% for Cairns (R) respectively.
The major differences between the number of bedrooms per dwelling of Cassowary Coast (R) and Cairns (R) were:
- A larger percentage of 3 bedroom dwellings (40.2% compared to 33.0%)
- A larger percentage of dwellings with 1 or no bedrooms (includes bedsitters) (11.2% compared to 6.8%)
- A smaller percentage of 4 bedroom dwellings (16.8% compared to 27.2%)
- A smaller percentage of 5 or more bedroom dwellings (3.6% compared to 5.8%)
