Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils compared to Hope Vale Aboriginal (S) shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 5.7% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 2.6% for Hope Vale Aboriginal (S).
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in FNQROC region and Hope Vale Aboriginal (S) were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (27.3% compared to 0.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (16.2% compared to 0.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (48.3% compared to 72.7%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (11.0% compared to 33.3%)
