Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils compared to Cook (S) shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 5.7% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 3.8% for Cook (S).
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in FNQROC region and Cook (S) were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (48.3% compared to 38.9%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (27.3% compared to 21.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (3.6% compared to 1.1%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (6.5% compared to 4.7%)
