Analysis of the need for assistance of males in the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils compared to FNQROC region shows that there was a similar proportion of males who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 5.5% of the male population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.7% for FNQROC region.
The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance in Douglas (S) and FNQROC region were:
- A smaller percentage of males aged 85 and over (31.8% compared to 41.7%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (1.3% compared to 4.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 70 to 74 (8.1% compared to 10.9%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 80 to 84 (22.4% compared to 24.4%)
