Analysis of the need for assistance of males in the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils compared to Etheridge (S) shows that there was a higher proportion of males who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 5.5% of the male population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 3.9% for Etheridge (S).
The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance in Douglas (S) and Etheridge (S) were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 85 and over (31.8% compared to 0.0%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 70 to 74 (8.1% compared to 0.0%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 80 to 84 (22.4% compared to 40.0%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 65 to 69 (7.2% compared to 17.1%)
