Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils compared to Cassowary Coast (R) shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 3.8% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 6.8% for Cassowary Coast (R).
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Cook (S) and Cassowary Coast (R) were:
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (38.9% compared to 51.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (21.5% compared to 25.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (1.1% compared to 3.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (4.7% compared to 7.5%)
