Kingsbury is named after Bruce Kingsbury VC, who died in Papua New Guinea during the Second World War.

Settlement history
Settlement of the area dates from the 1840s, although population was minimal until the late 1800s. Significant development occurred from the post-war years, particularly during the late 1950s and early 1960s. The population declined slightly between 1991 and 1996, and then increased slightly between 1996 and 2011 as new dwellings were added to the area.
