Dominant groups

Analysis of the religious affiliation of the population of Ward 1 in 2021 compared to Bayside Council area shows that there was a lower proportion of people who professed a religion and a higher proportion who stated they had no religion.

Overall, 65.8% of the population nominated a religion, and 27.0% said they had no religion, compared with 66.4% and 26.2% respectively for Bayside Council area.

The largest single religion in Ward 1 was Western (Roman) Catholic, with 30.7% of the population or 10,917 people as adherents.

The major differences between the religious affiliation for the population of Ward 1 and Bayside Council area were:
