Analysis of the housing tenure for people reporting a need for assistance in the City of Banyule in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a larger proportion of people with a need for assistance in households who owned their dwelling; a smaller proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a similar proportion who were renters.

Overall, 52.3% of people reporting a need for assistance were in households who owned their dwelling; 18.7% were purchasing, and 26.1% were renting, compared with 45.7%, 24.8% and 25.9% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
