Dominant groups
Analysis of the housing tenure of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of the City of Armadale in 2021 compared to Greater Perth shows that there was a smaller proportion of households who owned their dwelling; a larger proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a smaller proportion who were renters.
Overall, 8.4% of the population owned their dwelling; 39.6% were purchasing, and 48.3% were renting, compared with 10.8%, 34.9% and 50.8% respectively for Greater Perth.
The major differences between housing tenure for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households of City of Armadale and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households of Greater Perth were:
- A larger percentage of households who were purchasing their dwelling (39.6% compared to 34.9%)
- A smaller percentage of households who were renting (48.3% compared to 50.8%)
- A smaller percentage of households who owned their owned their dwelling (8.4% compared to 10.8%)
