Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Albany in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,903 people or 16.5%)
  • Retail Trade (1,985 people or 11.3%)
  • Education and Training (1,641 people or 9.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,529 people in total or 37.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional WA employed 11.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.3% in Retail Trade; and 8.6% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Albany and Regional WA were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (16.5% compared to 11.4%)
