Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of the City of Albany in 2021 compared to Regional WA shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 18.2% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 22.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.6% and 17.2% respectively for Regional WA.

The major differences between the male age structure of the City of Albany and Regional WA were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 70 to 74 (6.2% compared to 5.0%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 85 and over (2.6% compared to 1.4%)
