Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City South in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (220 females or 18.6%)
- Accommodation and Food Services (174 females or 14.7%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (159 females or 13.4%)
In combination, these three industries employed 553 females in total or 46.7% of the total employed female resident population.
In comparison, the City of Adelaide employed 20.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.6% in Accommodation and Food Services; and 11.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of City South and the City of Adelaide were:
- A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (13.4% compared to 11.9%)
- A larger percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (14.7% compared to 13.6%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (18.6% compared to 20.2%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed in manufacturing (1.9% compared to 3.0%)

The number of employed females in City South increased by 699 between 2006 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2006 and 2021 in City South were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+136 females)
- Accommodation and Food Services (+122 females)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+98 females)
- Education and Training (+93 females)
