ACT peri-urban area's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the economic base and employment opportunities available in the area, education levels, and the working and social aspirations of the population. When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating ACT peri-urban area's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in ACT peri-urban area in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (172 females or 27.8%)
- Managers (141 females or 22.8%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (128 females or 20.7%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 441 females in total or 71.2% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, Yass Valley Council area employed 26.2% in Professionals; 18.1% in Managers; and 21.3% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of ACT peri-urban area and Yass Valley Council area were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Managers (22.8% compared to 18.1%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (27.8% compared to 26.2%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (10.8% compared to 15.3%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Labourers (2.4% compared to 4.7%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed females in ACT peri-urban area increased by 41 between 2016 and 2021.
There were no major differences in ACT peri-urban area between 2016 and 2021.
