Dominant groups
Analysis of the female five year age groups of ACT peri-urban area in 2021 compared to Bowning-Bookham-Rural West shows that there was a higher proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 17.1% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 18.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.3% and 21.9% respectively for Bowning-Bookham-Rural West.
The major differences between the female age structure of ACT peri-urban area and Bowning-Bookham-Rural West were:
- A larger percentage of females aged 20 to 24 (6.1% compared to 3.1%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 15 to 19 (8.2% compared to 5.8%)
- A larger percentage of females aged 45 to 49 (8.9% compared to 6.8%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 60 to 64 (5.3% compared to 9.2%)
Emerging groups
From 2006 to 2021, ACT peri-urban area's female population increased by 208 people (23.2%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.4% per year over the period.
The largest changes in female age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+63 females)
- 15 to 19 (+54 females)
