There were more professionals in Ward 2 in 2021 than any other occupation.

Ward 2's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the economic base and employment opportunities available in the area, education levels, and the working and social aspirations of the population. When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating Ward 2's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Ward 2 in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (10,437 people or 29.5%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (4,483 people or 12.7%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (4,312 people or 12.2%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 19,232 people in total or 54.3% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Stanwell Park - Stanwell Tops - Coalcliff and surrounds employed 33.3% in Professionals; 10.8% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 11.1% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Ward 2 and Stanwell Park - Stanwell Tops - Coalcliff and surrounds were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Sales Workers (8.3% compared to 4.2%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Labourers (7.1% compared to 4.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Managers (11.9% compared to 17.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Professionals (29.5% compared to 33.3%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Ward 2 increased by 4,664 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in Ward 2 were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+1,793 persons)
  • Managers (+849 persons)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+772 persons)
  • Machinery Operators And Drivers (+356 persons)
