Dominant groups

Analysis of household income levels for Greek speakers households in Wollongong City Council in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a larger proportion of Greek speakers in high income households (those earning $3,000 per week or more) and a lower proportion of low income households (those earning less than $800 per week).

Overall, 25.5% of Greek speakers were in households who earned a high income, and 19.1% were in low income households, compared with 22.5% and 21.5% respectively for Regional NSW.

The major differences between the incomes levels for Greek speakers in households in Wollongong City and Regional NSW were:

  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $1,750 - $1,999 (6.8% compared to 5.1%)
  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $5,000 - $5,999 (4.5% compared to 2.9%)
  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $3,000 - $3,499 (7.7% compared to 6.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of people in households who earned $2,000 - $2,499 (9.0% compared to 11.4%)
