Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in North Wollongong in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (77 males or 11.5%)
  • Retail Trade (75 males or 11.2%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (66 males or 9.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 218 males in total or 32.5% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Corrimal employed 18.0% in Construction; 6.4% in Retail Trade; and 6.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of North Wollongong and Corrimal were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in retail trade (11.2% compared to 6.4%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (9.4% compared to 5.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (11.5% compared to 18.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (4.5% compared to 9.5%)
