In 2021, the largest age group in Vermont was 45 to 49 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 15 to 19 year olds, increasing by 164 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Vermont in 2021 compared to Box Hill shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 20.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 18.6% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 9.6% and 14.3% respectively for Box Hill.

The major differences between the age structure of Vermont and Box Hill were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (7.9% compared to 3.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (3.5% compared to 14.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (4.7% compared to 13.2%)
