Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 35 to 54 years in the City of Whitehorse in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne, shows that there was a higher proportion of people aged 35 to 54 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 65.7% of people aged 35 to 54 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 10.1% were in one-parent families, compared with 61.4% and 10.5% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 35 to 54 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 35 to 54 years in lone person households was 7.4% compared to 9.1% in Greater Melbourne while the proportion of couples without children was 10.5% compared to 12.2% in Greater Melbourne.
