Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of males in Sunshine Coast Council compared to Peregian Springs shows that there was a higher proportion of males who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 6.1% of the male population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.5% for Peregian Springs.
The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance in Sunshine Coast and Peregian Springs were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 80 to 84 (21.8% compared to 18.3%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 75 to 79 (14.6% compared to 11.2%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (6.6% compared to 4.5%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 85 and over (41.1% compared to 46.6%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in Sunshine Coast were in the age groups:
- 10 to 19 (+425 males)
- 75 to 79 (+368 males)
- 85 and over (+311 males)
- 5 to 9 (+245 males)
