Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types of Chinese languages speakers in the City of Stonnington in 2021 compared to IMAP area shows that there was a higher proportion of Chinese languages speakers in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 36.1% of Chinese languages speakers were in couple families with child(ren), and 13.6% were one-parent families, compared with 22.3% and 9.1% respectively for IMAP area.

There were a lower proportion of Chinese languages speakers in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of Chinese languages speakers in lone person households was 17.4% compared to 23.0% in IMAP area while the proportion in couples without children was 22.1% compared to 26.8% in IMAP area.
