Dominant groups

Analysis of the country of birth of the Chinese languages speaking population in the City of Stonnington in 2021 compared to City of Yarra shows that there was a larger proportion of people born overseas.

Overall, 83.1% of the Chinese languages speaking population was born overseas, compared with 77.0% for City of Yarra.

The major differences between the countries of birth of the Chinese languages speaking population in the City of Stonnington and City of Yarra were:

  • A larger percentage of people born in China (excludes SARs and Taiwan) (56.9% compared to 36.3%)
