In 2021, there were 7,145 people who caught public transport to work (train, bus, tram or ferry) in Inner West Council area, compared with 23,492 who drove in private vehicles (car – as driver, car – as passenger, motorbike, or truck).
Analysis of the method of travel to work of the residents in Inner West Council area in 2021, compared to SSROC region, shows that 7.0% used public transport, while 22.1% used a private vehicle, compared with 7.4% and 30.1% respectively in SSROC region.
The major differences in persons between the method of travel to work of Inner West Council area and SSROC region were:
- A larger percentage of persons who worked at home (52.7% compared to 42.7%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who travelled by car (as driver) (20.6% compared to 27.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who did not go to work (11.6% compared to 13.2%)
