Analysis of the service age groups of Burwood Council Area in 2021 compared to Woollahra Municipal Council area shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 14.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 20.2% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 18.1% and 26.4% respectively for Woollahra Municipal Council area.
The major differences between the age structure of Burwood Council Area and Woollahra Municipal Council area were:
- A larger percentage of 'Tertiary education & independence' (14.5% compared to 7.2%)
- A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (21.9% compared to 15.7%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Seniors' (8.4% compared to 12.8%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (18.1% compared to 19.9%)
