Analysis of the service age groups of Bayside Council area in 2021 compared to Burwood Council Area shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 17.7% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 19.4% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 14.5% and 20.1% respectively for Burwood Council Area.
The major differences between the age structure of Bayside Council area and Burwood Council Area were:
- A larger percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (21.4% compared to 18.1%)
- A larger percentage of 'Babies and pre-schoolers' (5.7% compared to 3.9%)
- A larger percentage of 'Primary schoolers' (6.7% compared to 5.6%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Tertiary education & independence' (9.7% compared to 14.5%)
