Analysis of the five year age groups of Inner West Council area in 2021 compared to Georges River Council area shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 14.6% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 14.1% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.9% and 17.3% respectively for Georges River Council area.
The major differences between the age structure of Inner West Council area and Georges River Council area were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (9.9% compared to 7.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 35 to 39 (9.0% compared to 7.2%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 40 to 44 (7.7% compared to 6.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (6.2% compared to 7.6%)
