Analysis of the male five year age groups of the City of Sydney in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 7.4% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 9.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.2% and 14.1% respectively for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the male age structure of the City of Sydney and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (16.0% compared to 7.9%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 25 to 29 (15.5% compared to 7.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 10 to 14 (1.8% compared to 6.4%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (2.2% compared to 6.5%)
