Analysis of the number of bedrooms in dwellings in City of Canterbury Bankstown in 2021 compared to Bayside Council area shows that there was a lower proportion of dwellings with 2 bedrooms or less, and a higher proportion of dwellings with 4 or more bedrooms.
Overall, 33.9% of households were in dwellings with 2 bedrooms or less, and 27.0% of 4 or more bedroom dwellings, compared with 50.6% and 15.6% for Bayside Council area respectively.
The major differences between the number of bedrooms per dwelling of the City of Canterbury Bankstown and Bayside Council area were:
- A larger percentage of 4 bedroom dwellings (19.7% compared to 11.1%)
- A larger percentage of 3 bedroom dwellings (32.1% compared to 28.0%)
- A smaller percentage of 2 bedroom dwellings (28.2% compared to 40.3%)
- A smaller percentage of dwellings with 1 or no bedrooms (includes bedsitters) (5.7% compared to 10.4%)
