Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) compared to Sutherland Shire shows that there was a similar proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 4.8% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.5% for Sutherland Shire.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in SSROC region and Sutherland Shire were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (31.5% compared to 22.1%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (18.5% compared to 12.3%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (48.9% compared to 43.1%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (11.8% compared to 7.6%)
