Dominant groups
Analysis of the unpaid domestic work performed by the population in the City of South Perth in 2021 compared to Salter Point shows that there was a lower proportion of persons who performed 15 hours or more of unpaid domestic work per week.
Overall, 18% of the population reported performing 15 hours or more of unpaid domestic work, compared with 19.8% for Salter Point.
The major differences between the share of the population performing unpaid domestic work in the City of South Perth and Salter Point were:
- A larger percentage of persons who did between 5 and 14 hours of domestic work (30.1% compared to 26.3%)
- A larger percentage of persons who did unpaid domestic work (total) (72.2% compared to 71.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who did between 15 and 29 hours of domestic work (11.1% compared to 12.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who did 30 hours or more of domestic work (6.9% compared to 7.8%)
Emerging groups
The largest changes in the number of people performing unpaid domestic work in the City of South Perth, between 2016 and 2021 were those who:
- Between 5 and 14 hours (+1,335 persons)
- Did no unpaid domestic work (+1,122 persons)
- Did unpaid domestic work (+1,079 persons)
- Less than 5 hours (-569 persons)
