Dominant groups
Analysis of the share of people in low income households attending educational institutions in the City of Perth in 2021 compared to Greater Perth shows that there was a lower proportion of people in low income households attending primary school, a lower proportion attending secondary school, and a higher proportion engaged in tertiary level education.
Overall, 3.5% of the population were attending primary school, 3.2% of people in low income households were attending secondary institutions, and 30.2% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 8.8%, 6.9% and 6.3% respectively for Greater Perth.
The major differences between the share of people in low income households attending learning institutions in the City of Perth and Greater Perth were:
- A larger percentage of people attending University (25.8% compared to 3.9%)
- A smaller percentage of people not attending any educational institutions (59.0% compared to 73.8%)
- A smaller percentage of people attending primary school (3.5% compared to 8.8%)
