Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Deception Bay in 2021 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- English (7,943 people or 40.6%)
- Australian (7,311 people or 37.4%)
- Scottish (1,906 people or 9.7%)
- Irish (1,890 people or 9.7%)
- Australian Aboriginal (1,277 people or 6.5%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 20,327 responses in total, or 103.85% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in Deception Bay and Strathpine Planning Area were:
- A larger percentage of people with Australian Aboriginal ancestry (6.5% compared to 2.7%)
