The role of unpaid childcare in Gloucester and surrounds is determined by many different factors. Dominant groups
Analysis of the unpaid child care provided by the population in Gloucester and surrounds in 2021 compared to Pacific Palms - Coomba Park area shows that there was a lower proportion of people who provided unpaid child care either to their own or to other children. Overall, 19.0% of the population provided unpaid child care, compared with 20.3% for Pacific Palms - Coomba Park area.
The major differences between the share of the population providing unpaid child care in Gloucester and surrounds and Pacific Palms - Coomba Park area were:
- A larger percentage who did not provide care for children (73.6% compared to 69.8%)
- A smaller percentage who provided unpaid childcare for own child/ren (13.0% compared to 14.7%)
