Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in MidCoast Council area in 2021 compared to Mid North Coast SA4 shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 17.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.5% were one-parent families, compared with 19.5% and 11.0% respectively for Mid North Coast SA4.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 28.7% compared to 28.1% in Mid North Coast SA4 while the proportion of couples without children was 32.9% compared to 31.1% in Mid North Coast SA4.

The number of households in MidCoast Council area increased by 12,951 between 1996 and 2021.
