Analysis of the household/family types in Taree and surrounds in 2021 compared to New South Wales shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 19.0% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 13.3% were one-parent families, compared with 30.8% and 10.6% respectively for New South Wales.
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 30.5% compared to 23.7% in New South Wales while the proportion of couples without children was 27.0% compared to 25.0% in New South Wales.
Emerging groups
The number of households in Taree and surrounds increased by 860 between 2016 and 2021.
