In 2021, MidCoast Council area had 12.0% of couple families with children in step families and 5.6% in blended families.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the family blending in MidCoast Council area in 2021 compared to Hallidays Point - Diamond Beach and surrounds shows that there was a higher proportion of step families as well as a higher proportion of blended families. Overall, 12.0% of total couple families with children were step families, and 5.6% were blended families, compared with 10.9% and 2.1% respectively for Hallidays Point - Diamond Beach and surrounds.

There were a lower proportion of other families and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of other families was 1.4% compared to 2.1% in Hallidays Point - Diamond Beach and surrounds while the proportion of intact families was 81.0% compared to 85.0% in Hallidays Point - Diamond Beach and surrounds.
