Dominant groups

In 2021, there were 40,030 separate houses in the area, 7,136 medium density dwellings, and 1,935 high density dwellings. In addition, there were 860 caravans/cabins/houseboats in the area.

Analysis of the types of dwellings in MidCoast Council area in 2021 shows that 79.5% of all dwellings were separate houses; 14.2% were medium density dwellings, and 3.8% were in high density dwellings, compared with 80.6%, 14.6%, and 2.9% in the Regional NSW respectively.

In 2021, a total of 84.5% of the dwellings in MidCoast Council area were occupied on Census night, compared to 89.2% in Regional NSW. The proportion of unoccupied dwellings was 15.3%, which is larger compared to that found in Regional NSW (10.5%).
