Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in MidCoast Council area in 2021 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- English (42,431 people or 43.9%)
- Australian (40,927 people or 42.4%)
- Irish (10,620 people or 11.0%)
- Scottish (10,384 people or 10.8%)
- Australian Aboriginal (6,495 people or 6.7%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 110,857 responses in total, or 114.79% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in MidCoast Council area and Harrington - Crowdy Head were:
- A larger percentage of people with Australian Aboriginal ancestry (6.7% compared to 3.9%)
- A larger percentage of people with Australian ancestry (42.4% compared to 40.9%)
- A smaller percentage of people with English ancestry (43.9% compared to 48.8%)
