Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Light Regional Council in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Manufacturing (1,023 people or 12.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (995 people or 12.3%)
  • Retail Trade (759 people or 9.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,777 people in total or 34.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional SA employed 9.0% in Manufacturing; 13.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Light Regional Council and Regional SA were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (12.6% compared to 9.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (6.4% compared to 4.7%)
