Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Light Regional Council in 2021 compared to Regional SA shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 36.7% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 9.7% were one-parent families, compared with 21.2% and 9.0% respectively for Regional SA.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 18.0% compared to 28.7% in Regional SA while the proportion of couples without children was 29.5% compared to 29.8% in Regional SA.
