Analysis of the household/family types in Chelsea in 2021 compared to Mentone & Parkdale (west) Planning area shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 24.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.6% were one-parent families, compared with 27.7% and 9.7% respectively for Mentone & Parkdale (west) Planning area.
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 34.8% compared to 31.6% in Mentone & Parkdale (west) Planning area while the proportion of couples without children was 23.0% compared to 25.5% in Mentone & Parkdale (west) Planning area.
