In 2021, there were more females working as professionals in the Inner West Council than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Inner West Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (22,511 people or 43.5%)
  • Managers (9,143 people or 17.7%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (8,016 people or 15.5%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 39,670 people in total or 76.6% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Inner West Council area - Total population employed 41.0% in Professionals; 18.7% in Managers; and 11.7% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by females in Inner West Council area and Inner West Council area - Total population were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (15.5% compared to 11.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (43.5% compared to 41.0%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (9.1% compared to 7.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (3.4% compared to 7.6%)

The largest changes in the occupations of females in Inner West Council area between 2016 and 2021 in Inner West Council area were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+2,515 females)
  • Managers (+1,644 females)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (-715 females)
  • Sales Workers (-630 females)
