Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Torquay in 2021 compared to Scarness shows that there was a similar proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 11.8% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.7% were one-parent families, compared with 12.1% and 12.2% respectively for Scarness.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 30.8% compared to 33.5% in Scarness while the proportion of couples without children was 26.1% compared to 26.0% in Scarness.
