There were more male technicians and trades workers in EMRC area in 2021 than any other occupation.

When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating EMRC area's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in EMRC area in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Technicians and Trades Workers (18,444 males or 25.4%)
  • Professionals (11,913 males or 16.4%)
  • Machinery Operators And Drivers (10,211 males or 14.0%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 40,568 males in total or 55.8% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, the Shire of Mundaring employed 27.6% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 17.0% in Professionals; and 12.6% in Machinery Operators And Drivers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of EMRC area and the Shire of Mundaring were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Labourers (11.0% compared to 9.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (14.0% compared to 12.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Managers (12.6% compared to 15.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (25.4% compared to 27.6%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in EMRC area increased by 9,050 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2016 and 2021 in EMRC area were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+2,306 males)
  • Machinery Operators And Drivers (+1,703 males)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (+1,464 males)
  • Managers (+1,166 males)
