Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in New Norfolk in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (273 males or 22.9%)
  • Manufacturing (154 males or 12.9%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (87 males or 7.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 514 males in total or 43.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Derwent Valley Council area employed 22.3% in Construction; 12.7% in Manufacturing; and 6.8% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of New Norfolk and Derwent Valley Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (7.1% compared to 5.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (5.6% compared to 8.2%)
