Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Chinese languages speaking resident population in Cumberland City in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (2,167 people or 22.3%)
- Labourers (1,452 people or 14.9%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (1,394 people or 14.3%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 5,013 people in total or 51.6% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 37.3% in Professionals; 6.2% in Labourers; and 8.0% in Technicians and Trades Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the Chinese languages speaking population of Cumberland City and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (14.9% compared to 6.2%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (14.3% compared to 8.0%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Professionals (22.3% compared to 37.3%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Managers (8.5% compared to 13.5%)

The number of employed Chinese languages speakers in Cumberland City decreased by 1,407 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of Chinese languages speaking residents between 2016 and 2021 in Cumberland City were for those employed as:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (-646 persons)
- Labourers (-384 persons)
- Sales Workers (-346 persons)
- Professionals (+184 persons)
