Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population in Clarence Valley Council in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Total employed persons aged 15+ (1,169 people or 100.0%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (263 people or 22.5%)
  • Labourers (197 people or 16.9%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,629 people in total or 139.3% of the employed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population.

The major differences between the occupations held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of Clarence Valley Council area and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander of Regional NSW were:

  • A larger percentage of people employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (22.5% compared to 19.3%)
