There were more male technicians and trades workers in the City of Ballarat in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Ballarat in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Technicians and Trades Workers (6,144 males or 23.1%)
  • Professionals (4,836 males or 18.2%)
  • Managers (3,802 males or 14.3%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 14,782 males in total or 55.6% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, Regional VIC employed 23.5% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 13.6% in Professionals; and 18.0% in Managers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Ballarat and Regional VIC were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Professionals (18.2% compared to 13.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Managers (14.3% compared to 18.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Labourers (12.5% compared to 14.7%)
