In 2021, the largest age group in Cronulla was 25 to 29 year olds. The group that changed the most since 1991 was 20 to 24 year olds, decreasing by 395 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of Cronulla in 2021 compared to Jannali shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 12.5% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 20.2% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 21.9% and 15.2% respectively for Jannali.

The major differences between the male age structure of Cronulla and Jannali were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 25 to 29 (9.4% compared to 6.0%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (9.2% compared to 6.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (3.7% compared to 7.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 10 to 14 (4.0% compared to 7.4%)

Emerging groups

From 1991 to 2021, Cronulla's male population increased by 1,011 people (13.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.42% per year over the period.

The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 1991 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 60 to 64 (+301 males)
